Donegal man Peter Burke has returned on Countdown to make it six wins in a row on the show.

The Donegal Town native returned today after the Christmas break for the first show of series 87, and he had one of his toughest games yet.

Peter first appeared on 8 December 2022, winning his first game with 86 points over six game winner Rick Singh. He then won with two consecutive 100+ point games, including a personal best of 112.

Following his fifth win in the last preliminary of the series, he was placed aside for the series finals.

It was his first game back today and he was pushed all the way, with his opponent two points behind in the final letters round.

But Peter didn’t feel the pressure and hit out with an impressive eight letter word to take a 10 point lead.

Both men got the same answer in the numbers round and failed to get the Countdown Conundrum so Peter will return tomorrow to go for a seventh win.

Peter, who lives and works in London, is the son of Fergus and Brenda Burke.
