The Mayor of Letterkenny-Milford MD, Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly has welcomed recent upgrades to a path into Bernard McGlinchey Town Park.

The path linking the town park to the Whitehorn housing estate has been widened and resurfaced.

Cllr Kelly said the works will be of great benefit to the local residents and will improve footfall to this fantastic park.

Last June, Cllr Kelly raised a motion with the council seeking better laneway access to the park.

Speaking today, Cllr Kelly said: “I’m delighted to see the works now completed and what a fantastic job it is.

“I want to thank Donegal County Council for taking my motion on board and carrying out these improvements.

“I also want to thank our Design team and everyone involved in securing funding for this project.”

Donegal County Council informed elected councillors last week that some additional works may be required at a later date, but these will not restrict access between Whitethorn and the park.

Works are also expected to begin this year on the Letterkenny Urban Adventure Park located within the Bernard McGlinchey Town Park. A new pump track is to be installed in the coming months, while the design and tender documents for a new outdoor performance area are expected to go to tender in the first quarter of 2023.
