Two Donegal women were part of the Irish 4x400m relay team that ran a qualifying time for the European Under-20 Championships at the AAI Indoor Games in Athlone.

Tír Chonaill AC’s Lucy McGlynn and Finn Valley AC’s Hannah Murray were part of the team that set a new Irish record along with Niamh Murray and Kate O’Connell, as they finished in 3:43.30.

This will see the quartet compete at the European U20 Championships in Jerusalem in August.

McGlynn was also the winner in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 8.77s, with club mate Niamh Moohan in third.

Conall Mahon set a new Ulster record in the Triple Jump, with the Tír Chonaill man leaping to 14.70m.

Fintan Dewhirst was part of the U20 Men’s 4x400m team that set an Irish U20 record, in 3:16.10, two seconds off the qualifying time for the European Championships.

Geraldine Stewart won the Shot Put with a best of 11.35m, with Finn Valley’s Bridget McDyer second. McDyer was also runner-up in the weight for distance with a best of 6.09m, behind St Laurence O’Toole’s Kiana Nolan.

Finn Valley’s Brendan Boyce was 2nd in the 3000m race walk, finishing in 11:57.61, behind Farranfore Maine Valley athlete David Kenny.
