Former Tánaiste and Minister for Agriculture Mary Coughlan will chair a National Dialogue on Women in Agriculture conference this week.
Ms Coughlan returned to public life at the end of last year after being appointed chair of the national conference and Chair of the Donegal Executive of Fianna Fáil.
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue TD, will open the National Dialogue on Women in Agriculture conference in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise tomorrow, Tuesday.
The Conference will examine gender issues in farming and explore how we might improve gender balance into the future. Women make a significant contribution to farming in Ireland, but currently account for only 13% of all farm holders.
The outcomes of the Conference will be compiled into a report, which will feed into future policy.
