Gardai in Ballyshannon have arrested a driver who was under the influence of drugs while having no insurance.
The arrest was made at a checkpoint on Friday evening.
Gardaí also seized the vehicle and the driver is set to appear in court.
The incident was one of several detections made during a major ‘Roads Policing Day of Action’ on Friday ahead of the first St Brigid’s Bank Holiday weekend.
Earlier in the day a motorist was arrested on suspicion of drug driving under the influence of cocaine in the Buncrana District.
An Garda Síochána and the Road Safety Authority (RSA) are appealing to all road users to continue to ‘Stay Safe’ this weekend as traffic volumes increase on roads across the country.
“Do not take unnecessary risks on the roads this Bank Holiday weekend or ever. Save lives by making responsible decisions,” said a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana Donegal.
