Members of the Letterkenny and Buncrana Roads Policing Units were out on patrol last night.
Gardai had warned that there would be an increase in patrols on the county’s roads over the Bank Holiday Weekend.
Speed checks were conducted overnight by Letterkenny/Buncrana Roads Policing Units at a number of locations.
A motorist was detected travelling at a speed of 153KPH in a 100KPH zone and has been issued with a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice.
This will mean that the driver will receive 3 penalty points and will have to pay a fine of €160.
A Garda spokesperson said “We are trying to make the roads safer for everyone. Please play your part and slow down. Speed can and does kill.”
