The green in the centre of Malin village has been badly damaged in an overnight act of vandalism.

Six tractors and a forklift were stolen from a yard and brought to the green in the early hours of this morning.

It appears the vehicles were used by the culprits to drive through the green before being abandoned.

The vehicles were taken from a yard at Bree, Malin, between the hours of 4.30am and5.30am yesterday morning, according to Garda Niall Maguire.

“We appeal to anybody who may have witnessed these machines in transit or being driven on the roads between Bree and Malin town between 4.30am and 9am to make contact with Gardaí in Buncrana on 074- 9320540,” he said.

“If anybody witnessed any activity involving the stolen machinery in Malin Town itself or if anybody thinks that they may have captured the machinery or the drivers of same on their dash cam footage, we ask them to make contact with us please.”

Anyone with information should contact Buncrana Garda Station on 0749320540 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
