A fisherman who died in a tragic fishing accident off Donegal last Saturday has been described as a hard worker and a loving husband and father.
Madis Lētsārs, originally from Latvia, lost his life after falling overboard from a crab-fishing boat north of Árainn Mhór on Saturday evening.
Mr Lētsārs’ crewmates recovered him from the water, but sadly he was pronounced dead on board the vessel.
The 37-year-old had fished out of Ballyglass in Co Mayo.
A fundraiser has been set up to support Madis’ wife, Liene, and their two children.
Madis’ cousin Janis wrote: “Madis was only 37 years old with his whole life ahead of him. He worked around the clock to provide for his family.
“Madis leaves behind a loving wife & 2 children & we hope to support them in every way possible.
“I kindly ask if you could make a donation, no matter how small as this will greatly help the family financially. Your support is key in relieving some of the stress the family are currently facing.
“Rest easy Madis, you will never be far from our thoughts & always in our hearts.”
