A young Letterkenny man is to stand trial for allegedly attacking his mother and his grandmother.

Sloan Murphy has been sent forward for trial before the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court in May.

The 24-year-old appeared by videolink at Letterkenny District Court yesterday from Castlerea Prison where he is being held.

He is charged that on October 14th at Fairgreen Hill in Letterkenny, he intentionally or recklessly caused serious harm to his grandmother, Reba Cullen.

Murphy, of Glenoughty Close, is also charged with assaulting his mother Sharon Graham causing her harm and with taking a car without the consent of the owner, Reba Cullen.

Sergeant Jim Collins gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on Murphy’s solicitor, Mr Frank Dorrian, at Letterkenny courthouse.

Sgt Collins said the Director of Public Prosecutions has consented to the accused being forwarded for trial to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham administered the alibi warning and issued a section 56 order relating to recordings of interviews.

Legal aid was granted to Mr Dorrian and two legal counsel were assigned.
