Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has rejoined Fianna Fáil.

Bertie led Fianna Fáil from 1994 but resigned from the party in 2012 following the Mahon Tribunal.

His readmission to the party has fuelled speculation that he may seek to run for the Irish presidency in 2025.

Under party rules, he will have no voting rights for the first year of his membership.
