Night-time works to begin on Letterkenny’s Port Road

Temporary traffic lights are to be installed on Letterkenny’s Port Road this week as Uisce Eireann (formerly Irish Water) begins its next stage of works.

With pipe replacement works almost complete on the High Road, crews will move to the R229 Port Road “within days”.

An exact start date is to be confirmed.

The works will take place at nighttime from 7pm to 7am daily.

Three hundred metres of old water mains will be removed, with new pipes to be laid to eliminate leakage and reduce sporadic outages. Customers in the area may face short term water interruptions, the company said.

Farrans Construction, the contractor carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann, is expected to have the project completed by the end of next month.
