A well-known Donegal priest has issued an appeal to parishioners after he became the victim of an elaborate email scam.
Fr Colm O Doherty from St Patrick’s Church in Lifford discovered emails were being sent out to parishioners in his name.
The emails purported to come from Fr Colm and were asking for gifts and gift cards.
Concerned Fr O Doherty has now left a message on the Clonleigh Parish Facebook page warning parishioners to ignore the emails.
The Gardai have also been contacted about the incident.
Fr O Doherty told parishioners “Please do not respond if you receive one of these requests as it is a scam.”
