A fundraiser has been launched for well-known Donegal radio and television presenter Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí who is battling cancer.
The West Donegal man has been a much-loved presenter with RTE for many years.
Although born in Cork, was brought up in Gaoth Dobhair where he attended Bunscoil Bhun Bhig and Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair.
He is known particularly for his popular magazine programme Rónán Beo on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.
Rónán has been fighting cancer for the past four years.
Now his friends have revealed that Rónán is suffering from Stage 4 colon cancer and needs treatment abroad.
He has had two major surgeries and around 40 bouts of chemo in the last few years, but is now at a stage where a cure or surgery is not an option, in Ireland.
He is currently receiving treatment at a clinic in Spain, and is organising other suitable treatments at clinics abroad. The cost of these treatments are hugely expensive.
Now Rónán’s friends have come together to launch a Go Fund Me page in a bid to raise €120,000 towards the cost of that treatment.
In just a few short hours the fund has raised almost €30,000.
