The charity As Darragh Did, which was set up by grieving dad Andrew McGinley, is to receive the proceeds of the 2023 Galway Cycle.
The major event run by Maynooth Students for Charity has raised almost €2 million since 1987.
This year’s event will donate all proceeds to As Darragh Did, a charity named after Darragh McGinley, which supports community groups nationwide.
Darragh, aged seven, died alongside his older brother Conor, 9 and little sister Carla, 3 in January 2020. Their mother, Deirdre Morley was found not guilty of their murders by reason of insanity.
The children’s father, Andrew, from Donegal Town, has thanked Galway Cycle organisers for their generous support.
RTE star Miriam O’Callaghan was on hand on Wednesday to formally launch the event, which takes place on the weekend of March 31 to April 2. For more information and to register, visit: galwaycycle.ie & asdarraghdid.ie
