Killybegs Coast Guard last night said goodbye to one of its longest-serving and most loyal members.
Michael Love has served in almost every capacity at the Killybegs unit during his 27 years at the south-west station.
He served as Deputy Officer in charge and laterally as Officer in charge.
A spokesperson for the Killybegs Coast Guard paid tribute to Michael and also his family for their support and understanding for Michael’s role.
They said “Michael’s skills and knowledge has been past on to many current and past members.
“His cool, calm and professional approach to every situation he encountered was second to none and his number one goal was always the safety of his team.
“We are very saddened to see Michael retire, but he has left us with the knowledge that has shaped our team and this will stand by us as a unit.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael’s family for all their support and understanding, it is much appreciated.
“Michael we wish you a happy and healthy retirement and all the best for the future. You are a leader, a confidante, a great colleague and a forever friend.”
