A proposal to build shelters for Letterkenny’s school traffic wardens has been shot down – after the council replied that the wardens have good rain gear!
Local county councillor Kevin Bradley suggested the crossing guards/lollipop ladies/men needed shelter because of Donegal’s harsh weather climates.
But the council has replied that shelters at various schools throughout the town are not necessary.
The reply said that not only do the wardens have good rain gear but also have plenty of breaks.
A spokesperson said “All School wardens are provided with the required PPE and rain gear. The continuous time on site are for short durations (maximum 45 minutes) in three separate periods during the day.
“Time for breaks is provided in the intervals between these periods.
“All school wardens are provided with the necessary training and all equipment that is required by the training is provided.”
