Harps had largest attendance on Div 1 opening night

Finn Harps had the largest attendance on the opening night of the new SSE Airtricity Division 1 season.

Just over 2,500 packed into Finn Park to witness Dave Rogers’ new look, and youthful, outfit go down 2-1 to a highly fancied Galway Utd.

According to the FAI Connect app, the next largest attendance was in Wexford’s Ferrycarrig Park (1,9814) for the clash with neighbours Waterford, while 919 watched Treaty v Bray Wanderers in Limerick. There was no attendance published for the game  between league newcomers, Kerry FC v Cobh.

“On behalf of Dave, his squad and management team and all at the club, we would like to thank each and every one of you who attended Friday night’s first home match of the 2023 season – with an attendance of over 2,500 packing the park despite atrocious weather conditions,” a Finn Harps spokesperson said.

“Dave and the players were blown away by the huge crowd in attendance and the backing they gave to this young team which has only been together for six weeks. With 11 players making their debuts for the club over the 90 minutes, Dave’s youthful squad certainly delivered the ‘maximum effort’ promised and received no less in return in terms of your vital support from the terraces.”

Many at the game were disappointed not to get hold of the superb match programme which contained a poignant tribute to their dear departed friend and steward, Ronan Roddy.  These sold out very quickly and a reprint is being organised, so if you want to get your copy you can order it now at https://fhfcshop.ie/PRINTED-Issue-1-2023-Finn-Harps-v-Galway-Utd-Official-Match-Programme-p531966602

Tickets are also now on sale at https://finnharps.ie/tickets/ for the next home match vs Bray Wanderers on Friday 3rd March (where great value season tickets are also on sale if you don’t have one already).

“If you enjoyed your experience on Friday we hope you will be back, and this time fill the car and bring a friend so we can #PackThePark even more!”
