Three men have been arrested following the attempted murder of a high-profile officer in Omagh last night.
Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell was left fighting for his life after being shot while off-duty.
Police have this morning arrested three men, aged 38, 45 and 47.
They are currently being questioned by detectives at the Musgrave serious crime suite.
Det Ch Insp John Caldwell was with his son when he was shot multiple times by masked men outside a sports complex. He had been coaching young people at football.
He is now in a “critical but stable” condition following emergency surgery overnight at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
