Local Gardai have issued a warning over a bogus e-toll text demand doing the rounds.
Many people traveling to Dublin use the tolls and sometimes forget to pay the automatic fees.
They are usually hit with a demand but it is always sent in the post.
Now scammers are issuing texts with links to fishing emails
A Garda spokesperson said “This is yet another example of an attempt to scam people out of their money. The advice remains the same – never click on the link within an unsolicited text message and never provide your personal information.
“If you think you have been a victim of fraud please report the matter to your bank and to Gardaí immediately.”
