The team at Specsavers Letterkenny is delighted to announce twelve-year-old Chloe Doherty from Carndonagh, as runner-up of the Irish Book Awards short story competition.

The Donegal native entered the Specsavers-sponsored competition and was awarded a runner up prize, which included a hamper of the shortlisted books featured in the recent An Post Irish Books Awards children’s category.

The short story competition celebrates Specsavers’ sponsorship of the Junior and Senior Irish Children’s Book of the Year categories at this year’s An Post Irish Book Awards 2022. This year’s short story theme was ‘Looking into the crystal ball, the fortune teller was excited about the future…’ and Chloe’s creative story, titled ‘Global Adventures’, impressed the judges, who felt she had a bright future as a budding author.

Chloe’s prize included a copy of each of the shortlisted books from the Irish Books Awards children’s category. The hamper featured some of Ireland’s bestselling titles including ‘Girls Who Slay Monsters’, ‘Truth About Riley’, ‘Lost Girl King’ and ‘Great Irish History Book’.

Specsavers is a proud sponsor of the Junior and Senior Irish Children’s Book of the Year categories at the An Post Irish Book Awards.
