If the walls could talk in Errigal College in Letterkenny, they’d tell a lot of good stories about the likes of former principal Charlie Cannon.

Charlie retired in 2020 after 38 years of dedicated service.

He is pictured above with number of Donegal ETB Principals/Deputies who all worked under his leadership – l-r: Joe Boyle (Principal, Deele College, Raphoe), Fiona Temple (Principal, Mulroy College, Milford), Charlie Cannon (former Principal, Errigal College), Danny McFadden (Principal, Errigal College), Deirdre Markham (Deputy Principal, Errigal College) and Ciarán Mac Ruaidhrí (Principal, Gairmscoil Chu Uladh).

However, Charlie wasn’t the only member of staff praised for their services to education.

Also congratulated was Cathy Rafferty (pictured above) who was an Irish teacher and then HSCL in latter years before retiring in September 2020.

Lucia Valkenborghs (pictured below) who originally worked in PCC Falcarragh for 33 years before serving a short stint in Errigal College was also thanked for her service.

Among the many others who attended on the night was current principal Danny McFadden, CEO of the ETB Anne McHugh, former Errigal College Principal Paddy O Connor and Chairperson of the Board, Councillor Donal Coyle.
