Funding has been allocated to recruit a team of mental health staff to support victims of the Creeslough tragedy over the next two years, it has been confirmed.
Donegal Mental Health Services has gained funding to recruit two Psychologists and three Clinical Nurse Specialists to provide ongoing services in the village impacted by last October’s fatal explosion.
The HSE said services will continue over the coming months and years.

Details of psychosocial support provided for Creeslough victims were shared at this week’s meeting of the Regional Health Forum West.
The HSE outlined that the response to date has been intensive and focused on the needs of the people in Creeslough in conjunction with other HSE and statutory bodies.
Clients in need were referred to clinical services and facilitated with priority assessments/services to DMHS, CAMHS, POA, Primary Care Psychology, Jigsaw and Pieta House.
Clients were also referred for priority services within National Counselling Service (NCS) and where necessary to the Traumatic Bereavement Service.
A spokesperson said: “We will continue to work with services / other agencies to identify persons who are vulnerable and in need of assistance and facilitate access to services and supports as appropriate.”
Cllr Ciaran Brogan acknowledged the good work of the team since the tragedy, and said it is important that it continues.
