A laboratory extension is set to open at Letterkenny University Hospital next year, it has been confirmed.
Works are underway on campus to extend the microbiology and serology lab under the HSE Capital Programme.
The extension will enhance microbiology, virology and immunology services at the hospital. Works were announced last year to both support Covid-19 Testing and to bring the Laboratory up to current standards.
The HSE has this week confirmed it is anticipated that the construction works will be completed by the first quarter of 2024.
Cllr Gerry Crawford welcomed the progress update at this week’s meeting of the Regional Health Forum West.
“You have to be happy with that,” he said, adding that he had made three email requests for information on the project which went unanswered.
