Met Eireann has issued a status yellow ice warning for all counties tomorrow night as temperatures plummet.
Very cold weather is on the way with frost, ice and some possible snow in northern counties.
The cold snap will begin on Monday night, as temperature drop to lows of 0 and -4 degrees.
The ice warning is in place from 6pm Monday until 10am Tuesday, warning of “hazardous conditions due to freezing temperatures including icy stretches on roads and paths.”
The north coast is bracing for the coldest conditions, with wintry showers expected throughout the week ahead.
Tonight will see temperatures dipping again to lows of -1C, before a “very cold” Arctic airflow feeds down.
Monday’s overnight temperatures will plummet to lows of 0 and -4C. Tuesday will see well scattered sleet or snow showers and very low daytime temperatures also, and a “few wintry showers will continue near northern coasts overnight”.
Wednesday will have a very cold start with icy stretches, but with a good deal of dry bright sunshine about too.
Widespread wintry showers and lows of -2 to + 2 degrees are forecast for Wednesday night.
Met Eireann says there is some uncertainty to the details of the midweek forecast, which will be updated in due course.
