Gardaí in Letterkenny have issued a reminder to motorists about the 50kph speed limit on Letterkenny’s Four Lane, following a number of incidents over the weekend.
The Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit detected a number of motorists going more than double the limit on the busy route on Sunday.
One motorist was speeding at 108kph while another was doing 100kph between the Polestar and the Dry Arch Roundabout.
These drivers will have to pay a fine of €160 and will each receive 3 penalty points.

Gardaí shared details of a number of the offences on Facebook yesterday and said: “We urge all motorists to remember that the speed limit in this area in which there are ongoing roadworks is 50KPH. Please slow down in order to protect yourself, to protect other motorists/passengers and to protect those who are conducting the road works.”
