Gardaí have again urged motorists to adhere to the reduced speed limit on the Four Lane project in Letterkenny.
Works have been ongoing for almost two years there to erect a central median and widen the road between the Dry Arch and Polestar roundabouts.
Gardaí reissued their appeal to motorists to slow down after a number of drivers were caught travelling at double the 50 km/h (30mph) temporary speed limit at the weekend. One motorist was clocked at 108km/h (67mph).
Speaking today, Garda Claire Rafferty said the speed restrictions are in place for a reason.
“I think some people are forgetting the reason why the 50 km/h speed limit is there,” she explained.
“We urge all motorists to remember that the speed limit in the area, in which there are ongoing roadworks, is 50 km/h. “Please slow down in order to protect workers and other motorists.”
