Gardaí are investigating a vicious daylight assault carried out on three young boys in Stranorlar.

The incident took place between 4pm and 4:15pm last Tuesday, February 28 on a laneway (main pic) between the town’s main street and Railway (Mart) Road.

Garda Claire Rafferty said that the boys were on their way home from secondary school and were going to catch a bus when they were followed and attacked by a number of older male youths.

“The male youths followed them and launched an unprovoked attack,” Gda Rafferty said.

“They received non life-threatening injuries, however, this was an awful ordeal for them. Parents, please speak with your children about the potentially life changing consequences of such incidents.”

She also revealed that the attack was recorded and that Gardaí were in possession of the footage.

However, the guards are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information should contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 074-9167100 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.

Alternatively, fellow students can also pass information through their parents or teachers in confidence.
