A young Donegal woman has been introduced to the local courts service as its newest practising solicitor has been formally introduced to the Court Service.

Niamh Grant, a native of Burnfoot, was introduced to Letterkenny District Court today.

Ms Grant was announced to the court by experienced solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian.

“It is wonderful to see new members join the profession,” Mr Dorrian said.

Mr Dorrian said Ms Grant was a near neighbour of his from a neighbouring parish who attended Scoil Mhuire in Buncrana before ‘sailing through’ her exams at NUI Galway.

Ms Grant is working with VP McMullin Solicitors, who have bases in Ballybofey and Letterkenny.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham, who said she had a firm affinity with NUI Galway, welcomed Ms Grant to the court.

“I am always delighted to welcome new practitioners to the court,” Judge Cunningham said.

“I want to extend the assistance of the court, especially in these first few months as you grapple with the courts.”

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins also extended best wishes.

Ms Grant thanked those who had welcomed her to the court and said she was looking forward to commencing practice in Donegal.
