Sadness at passing of Stranorlar sportsman, Peter Anderson

The Twin Towns community is mourning the loss of a great sportsman, Peter Anderson, who sadly passed away on Wednesday.

Mr Anderson was one of the founding members of the Twin Towns Boxing Club in 1979, alongside his brother Brian.

Peter boxed at a professional level in London and in 1998 was awarded the Donegal Sports Stars Hall of Fame Award.

Above all, he was a family man, a gentleman to everyone he met and a great character of Drumboe.

Funeral Mass for Peter Anderson will take place on Friday, March 10th, in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar at 11am.

Obituary Notice: 

The death has occurred at Brentwood Manor, Nursing Home, Convoy, of Peter Anderson, Magherapaste, Drumboe Lower, Stranorlar. (F93 V6TY). Beloved husband of Cathy and much loved father of Paul, Veronica, Bernie, Peter and John, cherished brother of Maura, Roisin, Brian, Margaret and P.J. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his wife, sons, daughters, in-laws Chris, Marie, Teresa and Dominic, grandchildren, Bernice, Ryan, Niall, Katie, Rowan, Conor, Ainne, great-grandson Shea, extended family and friends.

Remains reposing at his home on Thursday, March 9th, from 11am. Funeral leaving his home on Friday, March 10th, at 10.30am for Requiem Mass in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar at 11am. Interment afterwards in Drumboe Cemetery. The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Webcam at https://www.churchservices.tv/stranorlar

Donations in lieu of flowers, if so desired to the Patients Comfort Fund, St Joseph’s Community Hospital, care of any family member.

Family time from 10pm until 11am and on the morning of the funeral please.
