Met Eireann has issued another weather warning ahead of another freezing night in Donegal.

Temperatures are forecast to drop to lows of -2C and -5C this Friday night.

There will be widespread frost and icy stretches on untreated roads.

A status yellow alert for ice will be in place from 7pm until 10am Saturday morning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Connacht, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly and Westmeath.

Donegal County Council gritters will be out on all main roads from 7pm tonight (Friday).

Met Eireann forecasts that tomorrow, Saturday, will have a dry and mostly cloudy start but rain will spread from the south through the morning and afternoon, turning to a mix of sleet or snow at times. It will stay cold during the day with afternoon highs of 1 to 3 degrees in moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.
