The FAI Youth Interprovincial tournament made a welcome return over the weekend – and it was the Connacht FA side who were crowned winners after a great three days of action.
The tournament was held in Dublin’s AUL Complex and Oscar Traynor Centre. The competition wasn’t staged since 2019 due to Covid. Munster FA went into the 2023 event as title-holders.
The Ulster FA side kicked off their tournament on Friday night and despite a fine performance, narrowly lost out to Connacht by 2-1.
On Saturday they were beaten 5-1 by a strong Munster side and then on Sunday morning, they rounded off their weekend against Leinster, losing 2-1.
Connacht and Munster drew 0-0 on Sunday morning, a result which was good enough for Connacht to be crowned tournament winners.
