No punishment for Armagh and Donegal players following incident during league clash

Two players from Donegal and Armagh are to escape punishment after being caught on camera trading punches off the ball during their recent Allianz National Football League meeting at the Athletic Grounds.

According to the Irish Independent, the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) has opted not to pursue retrospective cases against the two players.

The game, played on Saturday, March 4th, ended in victory for Armagh, leaving Donegal bottom of Division One.

On the same weekend, an incident involving Roscommon’s Enda Smith was also the subject of much discussion after he appeared to plant his foot on the back of Matthew Ruane’s leg as the Mayo midfielder lay on the ground in their Division One meeting at Hyde Park.

The CCCC decided the evidence wasn’t sufficient enough.

Donegal return to action on Sunday with a home game against Mayo. The match at MacCumhaill Park throws in at 3.45pm.
