Friends, family members and football colleagues will gather for A Night in Memory of Martin Duffy – a charity event being held to honour the much loved Deele Harps clubman.
Martin, from Coolatee, Lifford, and formerly of Liskey, Ballindrait, died after he got into difficulty while swimming on holiday in Greece last August.
The father of three, who was in his 50s, will be fondly remembered for a lifetime of volunteering in sport including many years with his beloved Deele Harps.
His former clubmates at Deele Harps are organising a charity event at Maggie’s Tavern in St. Johnston next month.
Tickets for ‘A Night in memory of Martin Duffy’ on Saturday, April 22nd are now on sale and all proceeds from the event will go to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
Tickets cost €10 and they can be purchased from Deele Harps FC club members, Facebook, Maggie’s Tavern, or you can pay at the door on the night.
Music and entertainment will be by various local singers and musicians and a raffle and auction will also take place.
“Marty was Mr Deele Harps, Club Secretary and a great friend to us all,” a club spokesperson said.
Married to Marie, Martin was a lecturer of plumbing at North West Regional College in Derry.
He was very well known across Donegal for his involvement in local soccer. He was a member of the Donegal League executive as Area Rep for Lifford and also coached at underage, managing the Donegal Schoolboys 2007 team last year.
