Creeslough ‘GoFundMe’ appeal surpasses incredible €500k!

The GoFundMe page set up to raise money for the families of the Cresslough Tragedy victims has hit an incredible €518,000.

The fundraiser was set up on the evening of the October 7 explosion by Ards native, Gerard McFadden, who was based in Australia at the time.

Almost 10,000 people from across the world have now donated to the GoFundMe page.

Mr McFadden has stressed that the funds raised will go directly to assisting the families of the victims and those who have been injured as a result of the horrific accident.

However, in his effort to ensure transparency, he wants to make the public aware there is a delay in sharing out the funds.

“Unfortunately the process is taking a lot longer than expected due to the large sum of funds involved,” he told Donegal Daily.

“I really had anticipated it would have been finalised by now and I will continue to push things from my end as best as I can.

“I am currently liaising with the relevant bodies and, please be assured, the funds are still being held by GoFundMe and will remain there until all has been finalised.”

The link for the GoFundMe can be found here.
