Shane Blaney returned from injury and featured as a second half substitute as Motherwell lost out to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership earlier today.

Rangers won the lunchtime meeting 4-2 at Fir Park to briefly close the gap on leaders Celtic at the top of the table.  Celtic play Hibs on Saturday afternoon.

For Motherwell it was a first league defeat in five games. Their upturn in form coinciding with the appointment of their new manager Stuart Kettlewell.

Letterkenny man Blaney (24) joined Motherwell from Sligo Rovers back in December but first team appearances have been limited after he suffered injury.

He came off the bench today on 84 minutes by which stage his team were 4-2 behind and down to ten men after defender Callum Slatery was sent off.
