Donegal libraries showcase free learning resources on World Down Syndrome Day

Donegal Libraries are proudly celebrating World Down Syndrome Day today with a special ‘See Me’ window display in Twin Towns Library featuring Finn Valley native, Aoibhe McConnell.

Aoibhe, pictured above, can be seen using the See & Learn and Numicon resources that are available for free throughout all Donegal libraries. The window display will remain in place until mid-April so be sure to take a look!

The See & Learn kits are designed to meet the specific learning needs of children with Down Syndrome. They can help children develop clearer speech production, learn vocabulary, and develop language skills by learning to read from an early age.

Numicon is an approach to teaching maths that helps children see connections between numbers. It is a multi-sensory way of learning, which allows the child to learn by seeing and feeling.

Both See & Learn and Numicon resources are now available to borrow from the following libraries:

  • Twin Towns Library
  • Buncrana Library
  • Bundoran Library
  • Leabharlann Phobail Ghaoth Dobhair
  • Central Library Letterkenny

If you don’t live near one of these libraries, don’t worry we can deliver one to your nearest library for you.

All you need to do is have a library card, which is free! Joining is simple, either call into your local library with some ID or join online by going to www.donegallibrary.ie
