Homeowners across Donegal have been given some small relief as the price of home-heating oil continues to drop.
The majority of the major suppliers across the county are now charging less than €1,000 per 1,000 litres of oil with some as low as €919 for 1,000 litres.
Prices are at their lowest since Russia Invaded Ukraine in February of 2022.
Last July the price of a fill of 1,000 litres was reaching almost €1,500 in a number of Donegal outlets.
Carbon tax went up again last May, with the tax adding around €20 to the cost of a full tank of oil.
But a survey of prices today shows those prices have dropped considerably.
Amongst some of the lowest priced suppliers include A & N Fuels and Swilly Fuels which are charging €919 for 1,000 of oil.
Donegal Oil appear to be the dearest with the latest price standing at €1,020 for the same fill while Whoriskey Oil is quoting €970 for 1,000 litres also.
O’Donnell Fuels, meanwhile, is charging €960 per 1,000 litres.
With the arrival of longer days and hopefully an increase in temperatures, there may be less demand for home-heating oil and will allow residents tie to refuel.
