Throughout the month of April, Donegal County Library Service will deliver an exciting programme of events aimed at children aged 0-10 and their families.

The council is delighted that you will be able to join them virtually and physically in the library for Spring into Storytime 2023 with author visits, animation workshops, crafting events, an Irish language crossword competition, singing and dancing workshops and lots more.

They also have a range of events to offer you online, from author readings to creative writing workshops.

The information and schedule for all the events can be found on our library website www.donegallibrary.ie  ‘What’s on’  or you can follow Donegal County Library on Facebook & Twitter.

Studies show that regular reading for pleasure at a young age leads to a happier, more fulfilling future. Reading to children at age 4-5 every day has a significant positive effect on their reading and cognitive abilities and helps to develop language and literacy skills.

Children who read for pleasure do better in a wide range of subjects at school and it also positively impacts children’s wellbeing.

We have tips and advice to help parents and guardians develop their child’s love of reading. For more information on these support services and much more please see the Love Books section on our website available at the following:

Preab isteach san Am Scéalaíochta 2023
Le linn mhí Aibreáin cuirfidh Seirbhís Leabharlainne Chontae Dhún na nGall clár spreagúil imeachtaí ar fáil a bheidh dírithe ar pháistí idir 0-10 mbliana d’aois agus ar a dteaghlaigh.
Tá an-áthas orainn go mbeidh tú in ann a bheith linn go fíorúil agus go fisiciúil sa leabharlann le haghaidh Preab isteach san Am Scéalaíochta 2023 le cuairteanna údar, ceardlanna beochana, imeachtaí ceardaíochta, comórtas crosfhocail Ghaeilge, ceardlanna amhránaíochta agus damhsa mar aon le neart eile. Tá réimse imeachtaí againn freisin ar líne, idir léamha údar agus ceardlanna ar an scríbhneoireacht chruthaitheach.

Is féidir teacht ar eolas agus sceideal na n-imeachtaí go léir ar ár suíomh gréasáin leabharlainne www.donegallibrary.ie ‘What’s on’  nó is féidir leat Leabharlann Chontae Dhún na nGall a leanúint ar Facebook & Twitter.
Léiríonn staidéir go bhfuil léamh rialta le haghaidh pléisiúir ag aois óg mar thoradh ar todhchaí níos sona agus níos sásúla.
Bíonn tionchar dearfach suntasach ag léamh do pháistí idir 4-5 bliana d’aois ar a gcumas léitheoireachta agus cognaíoch agus cuidíonn sé le scileanna teanga agus litearthachta a fhorbairt.
Éiríonn níos fearr le páistí a léann le haghaidh pléisiúir i raon leathan ábhar ar scoil agus bíonn tionchar dearfach acu freisin ar fholláine leanaí.

Tá leideanna agus comhairle againn chun cabhrú le tuismitheoirí agus caomhnóirí grá léitheoireachta a bpáiste a fhorbairt. Chun tuilleadh eolais a fháil ar na seirbhísí tacaíochta agus i bhfad níos mó, féach ar an rannóg Love Books ar ár suíomh gréasáin ar fáil ag an nasc seo a leanas.
