A community call has gone out to end “mindless criminal damage” at a St Johnston premises.
The ‘Old Playgroup’ rooms on Church Lane have seen repeated vandalism over the past six weeks.
The back door of the premises has been kicked in twice, and there are fears that continued damage will impact future development plans.
The family resource centre uses the space for community groups and meetings.
An appeal from the StJohnston Carrigans page called on the community to help stop the “mindless criminal damage so that we can get back to the business of planning the use of this valuable community asset.”
They said: “It was our intention to re-vamp the building and use it as a drop-in for young people. Unfortunately we can’t move on this project until this behaviour stops. The door is so badly damaged that it needs to be replaced. We can’t afford to continue to do this and are worried the same thing will happen again.
“An Garda Siochana have been informed and will be doing regular checks in the area.”
