Representatives of classes affected by the Creeslough tragedy formed a guard of honour for the Minister of Education when she visited Mulroy College today.

Minister Norma Foley was welcomed by Principal, Ms Fiona Temple, who led her into the school. There, she met with the rest of the Senior Management Team and the Senior Student Leadership team.

Donegal ETB Chief Executive, Anne Mc Hugh and Donegal ETB Director of Schools, Martin

Gormley, were also in attendance to welcome the Minister.

Minister Foley met many groups during her visit including the Student Council who informed her of the work they are currently doing in the school. They showcased their commitment to

ensuring the school community continues to progress forward and their concerns for young people as a result of restrictions of Covid.

The transition year students studying enterprise education displayed the various national and regional awards achieved in the numerous successful mini companies operating in Mulroy College.

The Minister also experienced the great array of talent from the Art Department with numerous students displaying their portfolio work.

Ms Temple then led the Minister to the gym where both addressed the full school community.

Ms Temple welcomed Minister Foley and stated: “It is an incredible honour for us in Mulroy College to welcome our Minister of Education here today. I am particularly delighted that you get the opportunity to meet our wonderful students and to see first hand the school community that we are so proud of.”

Minister Foley also addressed the school and met with many students, staff and parents as she departed.
