Vacancies: McMenamin Engineering offering range of roles

McMenamin Engineering Ltd is a family-owned business with over 35 years of experience in Structural Steel Fabrication, based in the Finn Valley area.

Due to an increased workload, we are currently seeking to recruit several candidates to add to our existing team. The successful candidates shall work from our base at Lismulladuff, Killygordon.

COMMERCIAL/PROJECT MANAGER

We require a Commercial/Project Manager to manage on site projects of various capacities to include commercial and operational duties. It will involve the co-ordinating of internal resources as well as sub-contractors to meet our clients expectations. The role will also involve an element of new business development and increasing market awareness. The Commercial/Project Manager should have an appropriate background in the site delivery and completion of projects in a timely manner. A background or knowledge of structural steel and cladding systems would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of our internal resources and sub-contractors
  • Manage project delivery
  • Take site meetings and feedback all relevant information internally
  • Support the development and implementation of a project plan and schedule
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Identify and manage New Business Opportunities
  • Increase market awareness and intelligence via social platforms, face to face and word of mouth
  • Contribute to and Manage project pipeline
  • Report on project performance on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Management of construction related projects
  • Experience in the management and commercial delivery of projects in pre-sales and execution including the negotiating and drafting of agreements.
  • Qualified to degree level in a construction related discipline
  • Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all project parties
  • Organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • A hands-on, can-do attitude with initiative to work well within a team

This is a new role to the company, which allows opportunity for further development. An attractive and competitive salary shall be offered based on candidate’s experience.

ESTIMATOR/QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Key duties to include:

  • Compiling estimates to ensure that tenders and projects are accurately costed
  • Ensuring that tender and pricing opportunities are completed and returned within a set timeframe
  • Collect and analyse data relating to cost to include material, labour & overhead to support the profitability of potential projects
  • Set budget estimates for different functions within the project and measure cost against budget
  • Secondary duties to work on live projects and agree variations, final accounts

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A minimum of 2/3 years relevant experience as an estimator preferably within a construction environment
  • Third level degree in a quantity surveying or civil/construction engineering
  • A pleasant and outgoing personality and the ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with customers and suppliers
  • Be able to demonstrate strong negotiation skills
  • The desire to work in a developing company and be part of a team with an ambition to build and develop the potential within yourself and the company

WELDER/METAL FABRICATOR

The Ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Ability to follow technical drawings
  • Have good attention to detail taking pride in their work
  • Maintain relevant plant and equipment to the highest standard
  • Be punctual with an excellent attendance record
  • Plan and organise their work in order to meet daily schedules and output targets
  • An awareness of Quality, Environmental and Safety standards in the workplace
  • Ability to work well in a team and on their own initiative.
  • Reporting defects immediately so problems are quickly addressed.
  • Complete all work in a safe and efficient manner.
