Flurry of bets on Ciara Doherty to become Late Late host see odds shorten

Donegal television presenter Ciara Doherty has had her odds shortened after a flurry of bets on her to become the next Late Late Show host.

The Letterkenny woman was at 50/1 last week to replace Ryan Tubridy.

But a large amount of wagers has forced BoyleSports to cut the Virgin Media presenter into 16/1 for the RTÉ hot seat.

The Donegal woman is the latest name to make a move up the betting since news broke about Tubridy’s departure.

Only four names are ahead of her in the list of likely successors according to the latest odds, including favourite Claire Byrne (4/11) and Sarah McInerney (7/2).

County Down born Patrick Kielty meanwhile has entered the picture at 16/1 following a spike in requests from punters and is now rated the most likely man to land the coveted role.

The comedian and TV presenter would make a great Late Late Show host according to wife Cat Deeley, who said last week he would do a “phenomenal job.”

Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Ciara Doherty has years of experience and support is steadily growing for her to take over from Ryan Tubridy. It’s all about the ladies in the betting, but Patrick Kielty is right in the mix now too as the most likely male.”
