Irish rally driver Craig Breen will be laid to rest tomorrow in his hometown of Ferrybank, Co. Waterford.

Tributes are continuing to flow in for the talented young sportsman who lost his life tragically following an accident during a testing session in Croatia.

His death brought shock and sadness to the motorsport community, including many fans in Donegal.

Breen competed in the Donegal International Rally on three occasions, most recently in 2019, when Manus Kelly lost his life on the final day of the event. Breen, who described Manus as his best friend, made touching tributes to keep Manus’s legacy and memory alive in recent years, including having the name ‘Mandy’ on the front of his Hyundai i20.

Mr Breen’s family said he died doing what he loved most.

He will be reposing in his home at  Slieverue Waterford on Monday, 17th April, from 2.30pm until 9pm. Craig’s removal will take place on Tuesday, 18th April, walking from his home at 12.15pm to The Sacred Heart Church, Ferrybank, arriving for Requiem Mass at 1pm followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

He is survived by his parents Ray and Jackie, his sister Kellie, his brother-in-law Darragh and godson Bobbie.

The family have asked for no flowers and those wishing to help can make a donation to the Irish Motorsport Benevolent Fund.
