Athletics notes: LAC’s McDevitt on European Best Masters team

The following are the Letterkenny Athletic Club notes for the week.

LAC’s Kathryn McDevitt, European Best Masters team 2022

LAC extends congratulations to Kathryn McDevitt (pictured above) who is a member of the Irish Masters team who won European Best Masters for 2022. A fantastic achievement by a remarkable athlete. Well done Kathryn.

Convoy 10k

LAC athletes ran very well in Convoy last weekend where a 10km road race was held.

Noeleen Scanlon won the women’s race in a remarkable time of 35.09.

Raymond Birch finished 1st in the M40 category in 33:34 while Barry Mackey finished 1st in the M60 category in 40:13. John McCallion finished in 3rd place overall crossing the line in 33:25.

Philip McHugh finished in 33:51, Marc Wallace in 33:53, Kevin McGee in 35:53, Michael Harkin in 36:54, Martin Devenney 37:58, Liam Tinney 37:57, Enda McLaughlin 39:38, Paul McMonagle 41:25, Adrian Callaghan 41:59, Eimear Gormley 41:57, Stephen Shiels 42:56, PJ McMenamin 42:57, Fintan Smith 44:41, Naoise Enright 44:45, and John Wilson 45:15.

Sessions

LAC meets Tuesday at 6.30pm for an interval running session, Thursday evening for a hill run at 6pm, Saturday morning at 9.30am for a tempo run and Sunday morning at 8am for a long run.

All runs start at the Aura. All levels catered for and encouraged.
