Well-known Donegal pub looking to start a new chapter

One of Donegal’s best-known pubs is looking to start a new chapter.

Callaghan’s Bar in Churchill is one of Donegal’s most historic and best-known family bars.

The Callaghan family have kept faith with tradition by retaining age–old features of the bar such as the fireplace, whilst embracing modern techniques in other areas such as quality control in their drinks service.

Anyone who passes on the road to or from Letterkenny cannot fail but be impressed with the outside appearance of Callaghan’s pub. It’s low set single storey structure belongs very much to rural architecture of a bygone age. A spacious modern lounge provides an excellent platform for regular musical evenings.

They serve tea, coffee, sandwiches, scones, snacks, homemade soup & homemade bread, toasted and fresh sandwiches. We advise booking ahead for hot food as this is not included in their regular service. However, they can also facilitate catering when booked in advance.

Callaghans Bar has evolved over the years, with various family members adding to and decorating the original building, culminating in an extensive investment and renovation in 1991 which was followed by the addition of a badly needed purpose built extension for events.

The building retains its warmth and character, but can now cater to parties.

They get groups of walkers, runners, cyclists, sightseers and school trips as well as bus tours.

Callaghans are now looking to rent out the bar, off-license, shop and living quarters while still retaining the proud tradition of Callaghans as a leading local hostelry.

Ideally the applicants would have experience running a similar business.

This is an ideal opportunity for a couple or family to start what could be a very rewarding chapter in their lives.
