A hiker was treated for their injuries after a fall in Inishowen yesterday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 3pm when they slipped on wet ground on Soldier’s Hil near Malin Head following a heavy rain shower. The walker, who sustained a lower leg injury, was subsequently transported to Carndonagh Medical Centre.
The volunteer Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) was tasked at around 4pm.
Whilst on route, however, the team was contacted by the Aero Medical desk to inform them that the people accompanying the casualty had managed to transport them to the car park and were on their way to rendezvous with an ambulance who was waiting at Carndonagh. The DMRT team leader also met the ambulance there as the patient was transferred into their care. The team was then stood down.
“Our thanks to the National Ambulance Service (NAS) and the Aero Medical Team, Cork. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery,” a DMRT spokesperson said.
