The Irish motorsport community was shocked and saddened yesterday to hear of the sad passing of Sarah Purcell, aged 38.

The young driver from Waterford and late of Mallow died peacefully on Friday following a bravely borne battle with illness.

She was an inspiration to many, especially to young women starting out in rallying.

Thoughts and prayers have been issued from across the rallying community to Sarah’s husband Andrew and her adoring children Zoey, Callum and Ally, the Purcell and Moynihan families.

Her funeral will take place in the Church of The Assumption, Slieverue on Sunday 7th May. Details available on rip.ie
