Gardai are hunting a gang who stole a car before ramming it into a petrol kiosk in Raphoe and escaping with two money boxes.

The gang took a Nissan March car from outside the owner’s home in Letterkenny and going on a robbery spree.

The three suspects drove the car to the village of Raphoe about 20 kms away at around 4.30am on Wednesday morning last.

The car was then deliberately rammed into a petrol payment kiosk beside petrol pumps in The Diamond area of the village.

The thieves managed to completely knock over the kiosk such was the force of the crash.

The gang then rifled through the kiosk and stole two money boxes.

However, it is understood that the boxes did not contain any cash.

The gang then drove off at speed and the car was later found burned out at 6am in the Ballymacool area of Letterkenny.

A Garda spokesperson has appealed for anybody who may have any information on the robbery or dashcam footage of the car to get in contact.

The spokesperson said “We appeal to anybody who may have been in any of the above named areas in or around the times in question and who had a dash cam to make the footage available to Gardaí.

“If anybody observed the car in question out and about on the roads between Letterkenny and Raphoe between 11pm on Tuesday the 2nd of May and 6am on Wednesday the 3rd of May and can offer a description of the occupants then we ask them to contact Gardaí also.

“Anybody who has any relevant information is asked to contact Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.”
