ATU Donegal presented awards to 77 Sports Scholars across nine disciplines at the annual Sports Scholarship Awards in the Danlann complex last week.

The number represents an increase in the amount of sport scholarships awarded to ATU students, underlining ATU’s continued commitment to sport and student athletes.

The ATU Sports Scholarship programme provides supports to talented student athletes to recognise their need to balance both sporting and academic commitments. Through both financial and non-financial benefits, the programme aims to reward students for their dedication and skill and provide them further opportunity to develop as students and sports people. Recipients receive a financial bursary and a range of other sporting and academic supports.

Scholarships are available for a wide variety of team and individual sports including Soccer, Gaelic Football, Hurling, Basketball, Athletics, Cycling, Olympic Weightlifting, Boxing, Volleyball, Irish Dancing and Karate.
