Gardaí have launched an investigation after a second refugee centre in Inishowen was attacked last night.

The incident involved a firework being set off in the direction of the building on Buncrana’s Shore Road at around 11pm.

A spokesperson for the Garda Press Office confirmed they are investigating the incident.

“No injuries were reported, or damage to the property. Enquiries are ongoing,” the spokesperson said.

Local Sinn Fein Councillor, Jack Murray, condemned the incident adding that there were families, including young children, in the building at the time.

The latest incident comes less than a week after an arson attack on a proposed housing complex for Ukrainian refugees in the Ludden area of the town.

At around 11:45 pm on Thursday last, Gardaí were notified of the building on fire. Substantial damage was caused to the building which is owned by Derry businessman, Peter Casey.

Anyone with information should contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074 9320540 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
